I work with adults ages 18 and over.

Appointments with me will be done virtually.
These sessions are conducted through video conferencing platforms such as HIPAA compliant Zoom. You will engage with me from the comfort of your own home. This format allows for more flexibility in scheduling and can eliminate travel time.
Virtual appointments can make mental health services more accessible, particularly for those with mobility issues, living in remote areas, or who have busy schedules. Technology, however, is necessary.
Clients may feel more at ease discussing sensitive topics in a familiar environment and may feel less inhibited and more open in a virtual setting.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), psychiatrist, and therapist all play distinct roles in mental health care, each with specific training and responsibilities.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP): A PMHNP is a registered nurse with advanced education, typically holding a master's or doctoral degree in psychiatric nursing. They are trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders, including prescribing medications. PMHNPs work collaboratively with other health care professionals and can provide both therapy and medication management.
Psychiatrist: A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) who are trained to diagnosis and treat mental disorders. Psychiatrists have training in medical school and residency. They may also provide some forms of therapy but often focus more on medication management and complex cases involving severe mental health conditions.
Therapist: The term "therapist" can refer to various mental health professionals, including licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and counselors. Therapists typically hold a master's or doctoral degree in their respective fields and are trained to provide psychotherapy and counseling services. They do not prescribe medication but help individuals address emotional, psychological, and social challenges through various therapeutic modalities.
In summary, while all three professionals contribute to mental health care, PMHNPs and psychiatrists have medical training that allows them to prescribe medication, whereas therapists primarily focus on therapy and counseling without medication management.
